Amal Clooney, 41, showed off her incredible sense of style as she arrived at the Duchess of Sussex’s baby shower in the lavish Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side of New York City yesterday. The international law and human rights lawyer opted for a striking red, strapless jumpsuit for the celebration – which saw the Duchess of Sussex’s closest friends gather ahead of the birth of her first child rumoured to be in April. Amal’s bright number featured a wide belt which cinched in her waist, further highlighting her slender physique. The lawyer draped a black jacket over her shoulders as she battled the snow and wintery weather to head inside the swanky venue and meet actress and Duchess, Meghan. The mother-of-two wore her luscious brunette locks in loose waves which cascaded down one side. Accessorising her eye-catching look, Amal added a pair of small silver hoop earrings and elongated her pins in a pair of gold high-heels. Amal will be joining Meghan’s close friends including Jessica Mulroney, who attended in an equally chic ensemble. Other guests include Meghan’s former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, Misha Nonoo and Gayle King. Tennis champion Serena Williams is also expected to be in attendance, along with The Vampire Diaries star Janina Gavankar. The penthouse in The Mark hotel is believed to cost $75,000-a-night, making it the country’s most expensive hotel room, according to Mail Online. Meghan, 37, arrived in the United States last Friday and is due to return to London on Wednesday. Amal and her husband George, 57, attended Meghan and Prince Harry’s royal wedding back in May. And, George recently spoke out in defence of pregnant Meghan, who is expecting her baby in the spring, and claimed she’s been “vilified” and “chased” in a similar way to Princess Diana. The Hollywood star said he believes history is “repeating itself” with Meghan being subject to the same treatment of the late Princess Of Wales. “They’re just chasing Meghan Markle everywhere, she’s been pursued and vilified,” George told reporters at a press panel for his new Catch-22 series, according to Australia’s Who magazine. “She’s a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it’s history repeating itself.” “We’ve seen how that ends,” George added, in reference to Princess Diana’s fatal car crash in 1997. He said: “I can’t tell you how frustrating it is to see that.” George also addressed previous claims he and Amal were going to be godparents to the new royal baby. Asked if he was going to be godfather, he replied: “No, I’m now a father of twins, I’ve got enough s**t. Literally, literally s**t.”
