Amal Clooney spoiled pal Meghan Markle by paying for her to fly back from her New York baby shower on a private jet. The 41-year-old human rights lawyer is said to have spent £125,000 on the luxury flight to the UK for the pregnant Duchess of Sussex. Meghan, 37, travelled with the wife of actor George Clooney, as Amal was due to fly back to the UK with her one-year-old twins Alexander and Ella, The Sun reported. A source told the publication: “Meghan hitched a ride with Amal on the private jet. Amal was already flying back and covering all the costs so it made total sense. “Amal was more than happy for Meghan to fly back with her and the kids. ”It’s absolutely not the case that the taxpayers or the royal family paid for the cost of the jet.” The insider added: “The flight didn’t cost Meghan a thing.” While in the Big Apple, Meghan rented out a £58,000 suite at The Mark penthouse for the occasion, attended by stars including Serena Williams and Amal. Her Suits co-star Abigail Spencer, 37, was also invited to the event, but was stranded in New York after the baby shower. The actress, who was due to fly back to Los Angeles, spent hours in the city with pilates teacher Taryn Toomey. Initially they were delayed for six hours, however, the flight was later rescheduled for the next day. The twosome shared images online, claiming they were “frustrated” as they sat in First Class waiting for take off. Bemoaning the service on her Twitter account, Abigail wrote: “Boo @united…delayed the flight for six hours. “Got us all to the board the plane; we wait another hour then cancel our flight not because of weather but because you are short staffed and didn’t plan?” She continued: “Then have us run to another plane that hasn’t left yet to have us reticket. “Board again only to hear now that the pilot on this flight might time out too? Really bad @united.” It comes after a royal commentator claimed the Queen would not approve of Meghan’s “showbiz style” baby shower. Robert Jobson made the remark after he was asked how the Queen would have reacted to her lavish baby shower on Wednesday. He told Sunrise: “The Queen wouldn’t necessarily want it to be all glitzy and all the show.” “It is not normally the way the Royal’s would do it,” he added.
