Spotlight On: the most popular Stand Up comedians, and the watches they use on stage.
There’s a lot of uncertainty in the world right now, and there’s nothing like laughter to help us get through it.
Luckily, there’s an insane amount of comedy specials streaming on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and the like, for those times when you just need to decompress.
We binge-watched stand-up comedy specials during the quarantine, and can’t help but notice the bevy of top notch watches on comedians’ wrists.
What watches do your favorite stand up comedians wear, when they’re on stage? We’ve ID-ed the timepieces of Dave Chapelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Aziz Ansari, and more.
Jerry Seinfeld has been a huge Breitling fan since his Seinfeld days – in fact he’s been known to wear the brand exclusively.
His reportedly has dozens of Breitling watches, that run the gamut from classic Navitimer models, to limited edition styles, but lately, we’ve also seen a Tag Heuer Autavia in his collection.
In his Netflix special 23 Hours to Kill, Jerry wore the Breitling Aerospace Titanium, throughout the show and in the trailer, giving the watch lots of airtime.
The Aerospace is a highly-functioning watch, packed with a range of features designed for use in aviation. The features of the titanium watch include a chronograph, minute repeater, two-timezone display and a calendar.
Dave Chapelle has been doing stand up comedy for decades, but only in 2017 did he appear on Saturday Night Live.
The wait was worth it, however, as he earned his first Emmy Award for the controversial, albeit smart act.
We spotted the Rolex Daytona Ceramic Bezel Chronograph on Dave’s wrist as he hosted.
Introduced in 2016, the Cerachrom-equipped edition of the stainless steel Daytona, was the Daytona that every watch collector was waiting for. It became the hottest watch of 2016; and continues to have a years-long waiting list until today.

Kevin has one of the most extensive watch collections among celebrities today, with multiple models of Rolex, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet watches, and a couple of Richard Milles thrown in.
For his What Now Netflix comedy special, Kevin stuck to one of his favorites — the classic Rolex President Day-Date. His choice model was an 18k yellow gold, diamond embellished style, to match his gold jewelry and microphone.
Kevin actually owns several models of the Day-Date, including ones with baguette cut diamonds, ruby hour markers, and a tri-color Masterpiece bracelet.
Trevor Noah is a true watch aficionado, with a collection that includes several powerhouse brands such as Rolex, Panerai, Patek Philippe, and Audemars Piguet.
He has a couple of Audemars Piguet Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore timepieces, and he tends to love wearing them during his appearances, whether on TV or on stage.
For his stand-up special Trevor Noah: Son of Patricia, he wore one of his more classic AP Royal Oak watches — a stainless steel model with a black Tapisserie dial, which suited his minimalist stage wardrobe.
Aziz Ansari has a penchant for vintage Rolex watches, and is actually known to wear only hard to find Rolex pieces.
He began his collection with the Rolex Explorer and Rolex Day-Date, but we spotted a new addition to his watch box: a vintage Rolex Submariner reference 5508 (five five oh eight). Aziz wore the timepiece in his 2019 Netflix special Right Now.
The Rolex Submariner 5508 marked an important point in the Submariner’s history. It was the last reference to carry a 100 meter depth rating. It’s also known for its “small” crown, and the absence of crown guards.
And finally, we have Louis CK. He has a very special bond with his Rolex Submariner, which he wears in all his specials and TV appearances.
The watch was gifted to him by fellow comedian Chris Rock, after he and Tina Fey helped Rock in writing a movie.
Chris gave Louis and Tina a Rolex Submariner each for their efforts, but in true fashion, Rock had the caseback inscribed with… words that we’d rather not say here.
With just a mic and their wit to entertain the audience, a great watch makes the perfect accessory.
