Harry Styles’ is one of music’s most popular musicians. He’s hot off a critically acclaimed album in “Fine Line”, with songs like Watermelon Sugar, Golden, and Adore You topping the charts. He’s from one of the biggest boy bands of all time, One Direction, and has blazed a trail for his solo career to flourish. And he’s also become quite a popular ambassador among many fashion brands, the largest one being Gucci, for who he and Alessandro Michele have worked extensively together. And Harry’s rise to fame only continued when American Vogue published their December 2024 cover, where Harry donned a lacey blue Gucci Gown, which sent the whole world into a tailspin. If it wasn’t Harry’s fans that were going crazy over the cover, it was conservative commentators like Candace Owens and Ben Shapiro, having a go at Harry over the fact that he was not conforming to the idea of masculinity within the rigid constructs created by Western society. The quote “Bring Back Manly Men” donned all sorts of responses and even got an Instagram caption mention by Harry himself. But the notion that Western Society should conform to these really rigid notions of what men and women should wear is stupid, as all over the world, that idea of what is men’s and women’s clothing has changed over time. From Ancient China, to the First Nation’s of the Americas, to European high heels worn by Kings and Queens alike, and so much more, we must work to ungender or degender clothing, and colors while we’re at it, because it’s a dumb and old practice that really helps no one. So come along as we break down Harry’s Vogue cover and if you’re a channel member you can see us break down all the other Harry looks that showed up throughout the shoot! by clicking the link below 🙂
