(11 Feb 2016) SAINT LAURENT’S MASSIVE STAR WATTAGE IN LOS ANGELES
As New York gears up for Fashion Week, the style spotlight was focused firmly on Los Angeles Wednesday (10 FEB 2016) as Saint Laurent attracted a galaxy of stars to its show.
The crowd was a who’s-who of the celebrity world with guests including Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Pamela Anderson, Sylvester Stallone, Ellen DeGeneres and Sam Smith.
Lady Gaga kept it casual with short blonde curls, black round sunglasses and a sparkly gold blazer paired with a white blouse, black slacks and flats.
“I love Hedi (Slimane – designer) so much and I think he’s done a fantastic job here,” said Gaga. “Also he’s just been a huge inspiration to so many artists all over the world for such a long time and I just always love to come see what he’s doing.”
Model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was eager to see what the designer had in store.
“I’m a big fan of Hedi Slimane and I’m exciting for this evening and I’m looking forward to seeing what he has dreamed up for us,” she said.
Fellow model-turned-actress Milla Jovovich cozied up next to her director husband, Paul W. S. Anderson.
“For me personally, I love Hedi Slimane I think the clothes are really wearable and they’re just accessible to so many people,” said Jovovich. “It takes high fashion and brings it down to what a lot of artistic people wear, a lot people in LA love his clothes I mean for me it’s very wearable.”
Former “Baywatch” actress Pamela Anderson made the night a family affair. She was accompanied by her sons Dylan and Brandon Lee. Dylan, 18, is one of the new faces of Saint Laurent – hand-picked by Slimane himself.
Anderson has remained a fan of the empire, even after its conversion from YSL to Saint Laurent.
“I was a big YSL fan. I’ve loved Yves Saint Laurent and I’ve loved the whole history but I love what Hedi is doing too. I love that he takes the photographs and that he so involved in the whole look and I like that he’s kind of trying new things and how he found Dylan – he is very much into the California scene and I think it’s – Dylan plays guitar and so they are using his music for the campaign as well. I’m not really a big fashion person myself but these guys are very fashion, very much into it.”
Dylan Lee chimed in, saying “it’s all the clothes we used to wear when we were little but it’s just high fashion. It’s like it’s all coming to life and it’s cool now but I think it’s all my style no matter what it is. I love it.”
Actor Gary Oldman’s son Charlie is also a Saint Laurent model, but he only attended as a guest Wednesday night.
“He’s not in the show and I said that makes me wonder that they take him all the way to Milan, Paris, yet we live up the street. So no, he’s not but he’s here wearing a very, very sparkly pair of Saint Laurent boots.”
Other attendees included Lee Daniels, Joan Jett, Jane Fonda, Zac Efron, and Emma Roberts.
